I like to make Christmas Cards, and will do them if commissioned or for family. This is one for the Roanoke Inn, a very unique 90 year old pub on Mercer Island. Many of my friends are incorporated into the pic, and even Hanukah Harry is on the porch. In one window is the famous red hat man, a ghost sometimes seen in the south room. Not to be confused with Santa.

Looks pretty good, was a little glitchy when I check in safari. In addition to suggesting a new site structure I still think they should push there brand, do interstitials for Nick, Cartoon Network, etc. on Science and carry over books to iPad and Challenges to iPhone.

Concepts Two - Great ideas that got away

I have pitched many things. Many of my ideas have made it into games or products. But there are some that I still am bugged that I couldn't sell. Above was an idea for Michel Gagne: http://www.insanelytwisted.com

He's making an awesome game and I really thought he should make a book with his game that he could distribute online. It would be a great use of interactive bookmaking, and his Shadow Puppet game would have made an amazing pop-up. Plus it would have been a new model for book publishing partnering with the game industry.

This is really just for fun. I pitched an idea for a scholastic spring book club project that was a rabbit plant holder where the plant would grow into ears. I was tickled when a friend randomly sent me a gift form a japanese company that was a similar idea.

I've been using computers since 1985. Actually longer than that since I went to the Lawrence Hall of Science as a kid and made snoopy printouts from text and played text-based computer games.

I haven't ever come across a piece of software I can't use. Although I did balk at doing desktop publishing on an Atari.

One of my specialities is evaluating computer graphic processes, and looking for ways to streamline or automate tasks. Because I have a traditional animation background, and animation is expensive, I can quickly evaluate a production path and find ways to improve upon them to better serves the team and client.

I've also had the chance to teach two years of summer school (3-4th graders and 5th through 8th) for the Walnut Creek Civic Arts program. I loved it and hope to do it again. Images from some of my classes below.

The main project was to complete a comic book. Other projects included: creating pokemon' characters, drawing Spongebob, anime, and a favorite was to draw themselves as Simpsons, etc. I also adapted some of my college animation assignments, like the classic floursack (an animation assignment using a simple pillow like shape). It was very rewarding.

Academy of Art

I was invited to write the first Graduate level CG animation course. This turned out to be a huge endeavor but a great use of the ten years of study I had done. I went on to teach the course. What I found most interesting about developing the course is the ability to fully integrate images, animation and links with educational information.

One of my all time favorite thing is teaching cartooning to kids. I taught a couple years of sumer school, it was a blast. Kids are so creative and funny. I also have a number of kids in my life via family and friends who I draw with. This is one of the wonderful drawings Kayla sent that she made when she was abotu 11, it was a take some logo drawings I had done. Awesome.
